As a lawyer progresses in the practice of law, he or she looks for and begins to find what he or she enjoys doing, and gets to be more selective in what cases he or she takes on.
In my quest for what I want to be doing for the rest of my life, I discovered federal criminal defense. Now it's just about all I do.
I enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life -- attorneys, Judges, and clients -- and I love the challenges and interesting twists that each day brings, and I love that the field of law is ever changing.
It is easy to get discouraged when I have a client against whom the government has so much evidence that it looks like there is no hope. But overall, there is often some good that can be done, even if the outcome is not perfect.
But every great once in a while, something comes along that brings a lot of excitement to what I do. And right now, that thing is a recent change to the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines with regard to how sentences are calculated in "crack" cocaine cases. To read more about this exciting development in the law, please click on the link on the left of your screen entitled 'The New "Crack" Law'.

| Law School: |
| I attended Oak Brook College of Law and Government Policy. This school is dedicated to training lawyers to see all of life through the lens of God's Word, the Bible. Before I discovered this school, I had no interest in attending law school, and would not have attended any school other than this one. If I had it to do over again, the only thing I would have changed would be to discover Oak Brook College of Law a year or two sooner. |
