In the acquisition and development of land or other property or the exercise of its duties under this article and/or for the purpose of complying with the provisions of paragraphs or subsections (a) and (b) of § 1 and/or securing the funds authorized to be appropriated by said subsections (a) and (b) of § 1 of an Act of the Congress of the United States known as Public Law 284, 71st Congress, entitled "An Act for the acquisition, establishment and development of The George Washington Memorial Parkway along the Potomac from Mount Vernon and Fort Washington to the Great Falls, and to provide for the acquisition of lands in the District of Columbia and the States of Maryland and Virginia requisite to the comprehensive park, parkway and playground system of the National Capital", as amended, or by any other federal, State or local law, now or hereafter enacted, the Commission may act in conjunction and cooperation with the National Capital Planning Commission created by Act of Congress, approved April 30, 1926, as amended, or such other appropriate governmental agency. The Commission is designated as the representative of the State of Maryland for these purposes.
