Every hospital subject to this act shall cause the
hospital's medical staff to organize in-hospital medical staff committees
which shall have the responsibility of reviewing the professional practices of
members of the hospital's medical staff for the purpose of reducing morbidity
and mortality, and for the improvement of the care of patients in the
hospital. This review shall include, but not be limited to, the quality and
necessity of care provided to patients.
